DJ Enferno Remixes Sparks, Posner, and Big Sean.

“Ambiguous Girl (DJ Enferno Remix)”- Clinton Sparks (Ft. Mike Posner and Big Sean)

DJ Enferno has been lighting up the blogosphere with his remixes. He dropped two full-length mixtapes over the past month and they have disappointed. Check out this remix of Clinton Sparks’ “Ambiguous Girl” featuring ‘hip-pop’ sensations Mike Posner and Big Sean.

Dope Remix of Skrillex!!

“All I Ask of You (Myndset Remix)” -Skrillex

I may forget to post on the blog tomorrow, so at least this will make up for it if I do…

“Skrillex has become a household name after his Beatport domination. He’s showed us his dynamic production skills creating hits from dubstep to electro to his progressive house masterpiece “All I Ask Of You”. I was unable to score the stems from Skrillex on this project but have done my best to put a remix together.” – Myndset

This track is soo sick…

Exciting New Artists…

2 Dec

I must admit, I have a hard time classifying this trios’ sound but have no trouble enjoying it. Their debut mixtape, presented by Diplo and DJ Benzi features collaborations with Washed Out, Chiddy Bang’s Xaphoon Jones, Deadmau5, and Big Gigantic. Hopefully that roster helps explain why it is so difficult, even for the Echo-park trio themselves, to describe their music. As a result of this the band has gained fans from all over the music spectrum. Their mixtape, Paradise Falls, can be enjoyed by hip-hop fans of artists like KiD CuDi and N.E.R.D. (who they are co-signed by) to the experimental and pop lovers of bands like Toro Y Moi, Empire of the Sun and MGMT.

Do yourself a favor and check their mixtape out. My favorite is “Glimpse Into the Future” which features Xaphoon Jones.

01 Introduction (Coldwater)
02 Glimpse Into the Future (Xaphoon Jones Remix)
03 This Life (DJ A Mad Decent Remix)
04 Satellite w/ Deadmau5
05 Coldwater w/ Ced Hughes
06 Broken Paradise w/ Washed Out
07 Destroy Me
08 She Makes Me Feel
09 Lights Off w/ Junior Boys
10 Palm Of Your Hand
11 Space to Breathe (Big Gigantic Remix)
12 Last Call (Benzi & Willy Joy Remix)

25 Days of Christmas: Day 1

1 Dec

Since I have spent the last few months buried in textbooks, I haven’t been able to keep the blog updated–I feel bad about this. So, how can I make it up? Well given it is that time of year again, what better way to celebrate then by giving ya’ll the gift of music. In light of that, I decided to post at least one song each day until Christmas. I hope you all enjoy.

On the first day of Hanukkah, DirectProof gave to me….

“Ruins” -Roguewaves

This is one of my favorite songs of the past year and you’ll quickly find out why…

It was about this time last year when I first discovered this song, lucky me. It came on my ipod yesterday while driving and I felt it necessary to share it with everyone. The electro group, Roguewaves, who is currently on hiatus, is out of the Allston area of Boston and is made up of Justincredible–who is now part of the Kestrels–and Zak Broman–who is currently DJing in China.

About the track: It features an ever-so-catchy vocal harmony from Keely Bumford over complimentary synth that creates a mesmerizing electro-rhythm; it’s this crisp combination, which makes the track so versatile. The beat isn’t heavy enough to warrant it ‘banger’ status, but it’s definitely something you could hear in a club. Enough though, words can’t do this song justice. Check it out.

WARNING: This will get stuck in your head…. and for that you’re welcome.

Ruins” by Roguewaves

EDIT*: I was pleased to receive a Facebook message earlier today from Roguewaves’ Zak Broman and thought I would pass along the exciting news that he shared with me…. They will be doing a reunion show later this month in Boston, so if you’re near you should definitely check it out.

New Indie-Folk: CHIEF

30 Nov

By way of California, this band was formed while three of its members attended NYU. The band delivers a bicoastal feeling that can be experienced in many of their songs. CHIEF, who has a new album out on Domino records, is currently on tour through much of the Northeast.

Best part about this band is that they’ll help fill the void of folk music that Fleet Foxes’ hiatus has left me with.

Check out their live version of Night and Day:

Also, you can stream their album here on their Myspace page:

…There’s a Riot Going On

KiD CuDi jumps on a track with Johnny Polygon and it gets worked over by The Soundmen to form an interesting remix .

Not a Test…. New Post

30 Nov

So, I slept on Nicki Minaj. After listening to her verse on Kanye West’s “Monster,” I decided to pay attention to the 25 year old out of Trinidad and Tobago. To much delight, I found out that she dropped her eclectic flow all over on of my favorite songs from last year–The Big Pink’s “Dominos.” While I’m not as impressed with her on this track as I was on “Monster,” it’ll do.

Check it out:

Oh, and Happy Birthday to Mohamad Elbarasse. Much love.
